Email From Daddie: "Daddy Daycare"

So while I'm in Florida on business, Daddie has no choice but to play daddy daycare! This was the funniest yet cutest e-mails I've received all day! :)

**Disclaimer I have not changed anything from the original email**

Hey,

Let me start off by saying last night and this morning was a wild ride! It eventually got better though.

Your daughter must have not been feeling her best (or you told her to give daddy a hard time lol) I’m leaning towards the latter. As you and I were on the phone last night I was putting Dreux to bed, this was around 8:40 CST. About 10-20 minutes later I told you hold on, as I muted the line to see why Dreux was crying and not sleeping. Did some daddy moves to calm her down (rubbing her head, re-adjusting Mickey under the covers and saying “shhhh”). She was relaxed and I continued our phone conversation.

Around 12:45am I wake up to the sound of music (or Dreux up & crying) loud over the monitor, I tried to ignore it thinking it was just one of her little sleep lapses and she would doze off again. Well, I was wrong! I waited like 5-7 minutes and then “Da-Da!”. I went and got her out of the room, made a her another bottle and waited by her crib until she seemed comfy enough to fall asleep. Oh yea, she also requested Oh Baby [Dreux's doll] sleep with her last night as well, so I had to go find her and put her under the sheets on the opposite side of Mickey.

4:15am, the wonderful music plays again. This time I just scoop her out of her crib and bring her in the room with me, I propped up some pillows around us so that we had an impenetrable fort that would keep her from falling off the bed and monster from reaching Dreux. Took me a sec to fall asleep as I had to make sure the princess was good. Before you know it, I am waking up 15 minutes prior to my scheduled alarm (5:30) due to the little booger sleeping wild. I take her to the room to change her diaper and put her down for an extra hour of sleep. I put her in the bed as my alarm went off, the minute I walked out of the room she started crying. I had to just let her be since I needed to get in the shower.

After I was partially dressed, I went back to get her and found her with snot, slob and boogers EVERYWHERE! Cleaned her up and after that she calmed down and it was a typical morning. Threw on some ‘Baby Genius’ and went to work on her hair. I made it out of the house at a good time and actually got to work right at 8am! First one here! Haven’t done that since I started.

Just thought I would share this with you…thanks for telling your daughter to give me the works! Lol.

P.S. This is not a complaint, I enjoyed the challenge (after it was all over of course).

The Naive Economy Class Traveler

So I'm sitting in first class making a complete fool of myself! How was I supposed to know the tray was hiding in the arm rest? I'm use to the pull down ones...oops. Guess I don't get out much and the airlines I normally fly with have one class-coach! I'm sure the businessman to my right was thinking "yea she's never flown first class...amateur" he never turned his head or eye my way the entire flight. Breakfast was served and wow was it more than I expected. When she asked if I wanted fruit and granola or egg quesadilla i went with the simpler of the two-granola. I thought I would be presented with a small cup of yogurt parfait...something similar to the ones found at McDonalds. But no! She handed me a hot towel and proceeded to place a tray draped in cloth in front of me. There lay a bowl of granola, a banana, a bowl of melons, a small carton of milk and a very small yet cute water glass. I ate my food and once the food was removed by the lovely flight attendant, I proceeded to hide my tray back in the arm rest where I had found it; only after the flight attendant practically pulled it out for me in the first place. I fidgeted with that darn tray for like 30sec before I said eff it! Too many swivels and I was growing impatient and uncomfortable the more I seemed so uncertain with this thing! I'll have to pull the ol' inconspicuous glance over to see how everyone else puts their's back in. And in the meantime pretend I wanted to keep the tray out anyway! Geez! Who knew flying first class would be so intimidating. I've learned, the vast majority of people who fly this darn early in the morning are business hotshots and executives with their fancy briefcases/computer bags and tailored suits. I must say I did look the part with my wool pleated coat and leather riding boats. And although my fancy briefcase was a sale item from Target, I think it's pretty chic. I will say, I have been spoiled though. VIP access at TSA, priority boarding and seating, and no baggage check fee. I could get use to this...plus I could go for a little more practice working that dang tray! :)

The Adventures of the Traveling Mom!

It's been a while since I last blogged, ironically I think that's how I started the last entry. As Dreux gets older and WISER, Mommie time comes few and far in between. It's amazing how fast time flies with a little one! In just 2 weeks my little Dreux will be one years old! To think I started this blog weeks before I even gave birth! Life is amazing!

Dreux is her own little person now! A smiling, goofy little individual of her own who walks around with no cares with great attention and an eye for detail (lol). This small being has so much love to give and everyday Mommie and Daddie replenish her love tank showering her with praise and kisses! She has changed our lives for ever!

As some close friends and family know, I took on the "stay at home mom" role for a few months! Though some days were challenging, those couple of months were the most rewarding! Spending those "first" moments with her are forever engrained in my heart! From her first fall, to her first time at the park. From her first words to her first Christmas! It's been a blast being able to watch her an nurture her. All these precious moments are invaluable and I am blessed God saw fit for me to take a "break" from work.

Buuuuut money doesn't grown on trees and with a 1st birthday coming up, house bills, and a WEDDING to plan, it was time to get back on the grind!! We moved back to Chicago and within a matter of weeks I found myself gainfully employed once again! Starting a new job has its challenges and the biggest one is traveling. As I write this blog I am in the car heading to O'Hare airport to catch a 7am flight to Florida for work. Lucky for me; but unlucky for her Daddie, Dreux woke up at 5:15am and I was able to kiss her goodbye. She reached out for me, laid her head on my shoulder and patted my back as if she were telling me "Mommie I'm fine go make your flight". So I scurried out the door to meet my driver who sat patiently. FIVE days away from my baby...the longest we have ever been apart! But it's all apart of the course! All apart of this thing we call life. #youngworkinmommieONTHEMOVE :)
